Located at 495 Burwood Hwy in Vermont South, the Red Fig Tree Cafe beckons both locals and visitors with its inviting charm and deliciously crafted offerings. This vibrant café might be a hidden gem, but its reputation for exceptional coffee and hearty meals certainly precedes it.

Upon entering Red Fig Tree Cafe, you're greeted by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee that envelops you in warmth. Customers rave about the strong and generous coffees, with one patron, Hans Kie, noting, "Really good coffee. These folks are generous with the beans they use so the coffee is very strong." Priced affordably, it's the perfect spot to enjoy your favorite brew without breaking the bank.

The café embodies a true local spirit, making it an ideal stop for shopping enthusiasts after a quick trip to nearby Coles. Ben Hinton captures this perfectly in his review, stating that it's a café "for locals who want to enjoy a coffee after shopping." With its simple yet satisfying breakfast and lunch menu, Red Fig Tree Cafe offers an array of options prepared with diligence and care, promising a meal that feels special each time.

Whether you're savoring a delightful omelette paired with a luscious vanilla shake, as praised by Samantha Imberger, or indulging in a plump schnitzel sandwich with a zingy tomato relish—each dish is crafted to please the palate. Andrew Hill encapsulates the essence of the café when he mentions, "Simple food, simply delicious!" The old-fashioned strawberry milkshakes, known to be the biggest and coldest in the Eastern Suburbs, are a must-try, providing a nostalgic and refreshing treat on a warm day.

However, do keep in mind that Red Fig Tree Cafe operates on a cash-only basis—an aspect noted by Dennis Bareis that may be just a minor hitch on your visit.

The ambience is friendly and warm, with owners who genuinely care about their customers. Customers like Tianne Bloomfield have described the café as having "great friendly owners," creating a sense of community that draws many back time and again. It's more than just a place to grab a bite—it's a cozy haven where everyone feels welcomed and at home.

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick caffeine fix, a leisurely brunch, or a refreshing milkshake, Red Fig Tree Cafe promises an experience filled with good food, great service, and a taste of the local charm. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy this delightful café in the heart of Vermont South!

Really good coffee. These folks are generous with the beans they use so the coffee is very strong. Really good price as well!

This is a cafe for locals. Perhaps for locals who want to enjoy a coffee after shopping at Coles - the entrance of Coles is the main view from the cafe. The prices are very reasonable. Within this price range you get what you pay from a breakfast and lunch menu. The owners prepare everything for their customers with diligence, efficiency and great care. It seems unlikely you would drive to this cafe just for the cafe. But if you are shopping at Coles it’s comfortable and has excellent and helpful service.

Once again, lunch with a friend at the Red Fig Tree Cafe. So good! Simple food, simply delicious! The ham salad sandwich had ever-so-fresh white bread with a tomato relish that gave it a slight zing. My dinning partner enjoyed his plump and juicy schnitzel sandwich. The old fashion strawberry milk shakes came cold and large with the perfect amount of flavouring. As for the atmosphere! Who cares when one is concentrating on masticating the deliciousness If your in the area, give it a go. I haunt this place for lunch at every opportunity. What about the price I here you ask... it's value packed.

This Cafe makes the biggest and coldest milkshakes in the Eastern Suburbs. It’s just an old style cafe with brilliant pricing. Cannot recommend it more.
